Food Safety & Quality Assurance Officer (Consultant)

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Officer on a consultancy basis to support its supply‑chain operations in Addis Ababa. The officer will contribute to the implementation of safe and nutritious food assistance in line with Ethiopia’s Country Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure that all food assistance complies with international food safety and quality standards.
• Develop, implement and monitor food safety management systems and quality assurance procedures.
• Conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments across the supply‑chain.
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics and programme teams to address food safety issues.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to partners and staff.
• Report on food safety performance and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Open to non‑Ethiopian nationals.
• Consultant Level 2 position for an 11‑month duration.
• Relevant experience in food safety and quality assurance within humanitarian or large‑scale supply‑chain contexts.
