MEAL Coordinator – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator will support all programmes delivered through the Bale Field Office, ensuring that monitoring, evaluation and accountability activities meet Save the Children standards and donor requirements. Reporting to the Field Office Manager, the role is based onsite in Bale Robe and will help build a robust MEAL system that drives high‑quality programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a work plan to roll out the MEAL system at programme and field‑office levels.
• Provide technical support to programme staff for designing and executing M&E plans and monitoring tools.
• Collect, collate and analyse monitoring data, producing regular reports for the Project Office.
• Facilitate capacity‑building sessions for staff and partners on MEAL methodologies and tools.
• Conduct qualitative M&E using participatory and child‑friendly approaches.
• Implement accountability mechanisms, including complaints handling and information dissemination.
• Support surveys, baselines, evaluations, joint monitoring and learning workshops.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., International Development, Social Sciences, Statistics).
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability or learning within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Understanding of child safeguarding requirements (Level 3).
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams, partners and donors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the PRIME MEAL system.
• Knowledge of MEAL tools and qualitative M&E methods.
