MEAL Coordinator – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

The MEAL Coordinator will support all programmes delivered through the Bale Field Office, ensuring that Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities meet Save the Children standards, donor requirements and programme methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a work plan to roll out the MEAL system at programme and field‑office levels.
• Provide technical support to programme staff on M&E plan development and data collection.
• Collate, organise and report monitoring data to the Project Office and generate regular analytical reports.
• Work closely with SCI CO, CO TAs, SAO MEAL function and programme managers to design and standardise monitoring tools and methodologies.
• Conduct qualitative M&E using participatory and child‑friendly approaches, and support surveys, baselines, evaluations and learning workshops.
• Implement accountability activities, develop information materials and pilot a complaints response mechanism, including managing serious abuse or corruption complaints.
• Provide inductions and capacity‑building sessions on MEAL and accountability for new and existing staff.

Required profile

• Willingness and ability to have regular contact with children and young people (Child Safeguarding Level 3).
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Field Office Manager and collaborate with multiple internal and external partners.
• Experience in humanitarian MEAL systems and familiarity with Save the Children’s MEAL framework.
