Accountant – Operations (Full‑Time)

About the role

VAS Global Services is seeking an experienced Accountant – Operations to oversee the financial activities of its Visa Application Centre in Addis Ababa. The role will work closely with the central Finance team and various operational departments to ensure accurate accounting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily financial transactions, cash collections, visa fees, VAS revenue, POS settlements and bank deposits.
• Handle billing, fee collection, service charges and revenue postings.
• Process refunds, waivers and revenue adjustments, and prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Perform cash, bank, POS and revenue reconciliations and support payroll processing including attendance, overtime, allowances, deductions and incentives.
• Monitor revenue, transaction volumes, payroll costs and operational expenses, and support budgeting, cost control, vendor payments and expense management.
• Investigate financial discrepancies, maintain audit‑ready records and support internal, statutory and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with tax, statutory requirements, accounting standards and internal financial controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls while collaborating with central Finance and operational teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 4–5 years of experience in accounting, finance or audit, with strong cash, bank, POS and revenue reconciliation experience.
• Experience in financial reporting, payroll processing, tax and statutory compliance, and supporting internal and external audits.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems; budgeting, cost control and financial analysis experience.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, culturally diverse environment.
