Compliance and Systems Director – Senior (Ethiopia)

About the role

People in Need is seeking a senior‑level Compliance and Systems Director to lead organisational compliance and support systems for its Ethiopia country programme. Based in Addis Ababa, the director will work closely with the Country Director and senior management to ensure that all donor requirements, internal policies and operational procedures are correctly interpreted and applied.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight on compliance with internal and external regulations, including donor contractual obligations.
• Manage and improve core support functions such as logistics, procurement, finance and human resources.
• Ensure that operational systems meet accountability standards of People in Need and its donors.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for staff across all departments.
• Supervise heads of Finance, Operations and HR, and coordinate closely with programme managers.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in compliance, systems or operations management within the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong understanding of donor regulations, procurement rules and financial management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive organisational improvements.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
