Social Behavioural Change Officer

About the role

Save the Children is looking for a qualified Social Behavioural Change Officer to support the GSK‑funded immunisation programme in Ethiopia. The officer will work at field and woreda levels to generate community demand for routine vaccines and reach zero‑dose and under‑immunised children.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate and monitor Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) interventions linked to immunisation at the woreda level.
• Conduct assessments to identify sociocultural and gender‑related barriers to vaccine uptake.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building to government partners (regional, zonal and woreda) on SBC strategies.
• Collaborate with the Country Office and Field Offices to develop and align SBC strategies with national community mobilisation plans.
• Support field staff in demand‑generation activities and report on SBC performance indicators.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background (e.g., public health, social sciences) and proven motivation for SBC work.
• Experience working on immunisation or child health programmes, preferably in Ethiopia.
• Ability to work closely with government officials and community stakeholders at regional and local levels.
• Strong analytical skills to assess barriers and monitor interventions.
