Accountability Officer (Fixed‑Term Internship)

About the role

The Accountability Officer will lead the implementation of community feedback and response mechanisms, ensuring transparent and inclusive project delivery in humanitarian settings.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor feedback and complaint channels, recording data on the digital accountability platform (DAP).
• Provide orientation and coaching to community structures and project staff on accountability principles and complaint handling.
• Monitor the functionality, inclusiveness, safety and responsiveness of community feedback mechanisms.
• Identify and refer sensitive complaints (safeguarding, PSEA, fraud, child protection) through established pathways.
• Collect, analyse and share community feedback with MEAL teams to inform program improvement.

Required profile

• University degree in sociology, social work, social science, monitoring & data management or related field.
• 2‑3 years field‑based experience with accountability and MEAL activities in emergency contexts.
• Proven experience establishing a functional accountability system for large‑scale humanitarian programmes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mobile data collection tools such as Kobo, CommCare and ODK Collect.
• Experience designing and reporting mixed‑methodology surveys.
