Accountant

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site Accountant position is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, supporting both automotive and pharmaceutical operations of Desire Import Export. The role involves managing daily financial transactions and ensuring accurate reporting for a multi‑sector business.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable, perform bank reconciliations and post to the general ledger.
• Prepare and review financial statements, track inventory and cost of goods sold, and support budgeting and forecasting.
• Monitor cash flow, assist with external audits, maintain documentation, and provide financial analysis for management decisions.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, and sales teams to uphold strong financial controls and timely reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, regulatory compliance, and audit practices.
• Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organizational abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English; Amharic proficiency is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
