Accounts Payable Accountant – Ethiopia

About the role

The Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant will manage daily financial operations in Ethiopia, focusing on vendor payments, international trade finance, and tax compliance. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures accurate ledger maintenance and supports strategic financial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, vendor balances, and international trade finance transactions.
• Perform bank, customer, and supplier reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Support inventory accounting and tax compliance (VAT, withholding tax, income tax) under Ethiopian law.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits and internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver timely financial reports and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in import/export, trading or logistics.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and Ethiopian tax regulations.
• Proven ability to manage general ledger, journal entries and financial statements.
