Africa Conference & Regional Platform Coordinator

About the role

The Africa Conference & Regional Platform Coordinator provides dedicated coordination capacity for the co‑creation and delivery of the Africa Ageing Conference and supports the Africa Coordination Mechanism as a regional platform. Reporting to the Regional Adviser, Africa, the role translates strategic direction into clear plans, manages processes and ensures timely follow‑through of commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day coordination and delivery of the Africa Ageing Conference, managing workplans, milestones and stakeholder engagement.
• Support the Africa Coordination Mechanism by organising meetings, learning exchanges and ensuring follow‑up on decisions and commitments.
• Maintain knowledge‑management systems, track actions and produce regular progress reports for the conference and platform.
• Collaborate with the Resource Mobilisation & Partnerships Manager to align conference plans with fundraising and sponsorship activities.

Required profile

• Degree in International Development, Public Policy, International Relations, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Event or Conference Management, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience coordinating complex multi‑country or multi‑stakeholder programmes, networks or conferences.
• Strong project coordination skills including work‑planning, action tracking, meeting facilitation and risk management.
• Excellent written communication and information‑management abilities, with fluency in English.
• Experience working with civil‑society networks, regional platforms or multi‑partner coalitions.
