Attorney – Legal Counsel for Collateral & Document Custody

About the role

The Attorney supports branch staff in managing collateral, ensuring the safe custody of legal documents, and provides legal advice and representation to the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Handle collateral and safe custody of legal documents for real estate and chattel mortgages.
• Register and discharge mortgaged items and ensure proper documentation.
• Draft contracts, agreements, guarantees, and other transactional documents.
• Examine judgments and court rulings, assess impact on business, and advise supervisors.
• Gather facts, conduct investigations, prepare contracts and claims, and deliver notices to delinquent clients.
• Investigate theft, forgeries, and misappropriation, and take appropriate legal actions.
• Prepare and submit legal pleadings, suits, petitions, defenses, and affidavits on behalf of the institution.
• Represent branches before courts, police stations, and public authorities.

Required profile

• Diploma in law with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of civil and commercial codes and strong analytical ability.
• Local language proficiency, good communication skills, and basic computer skills are advantageous.
