Compliance Officer

About the role

Chapa Financial Technologies is a fast‑growing fintech that provides a digital payment gateway for merchants worldwide. We are seeking a Compliance Officer to strengthen our compliance framework across payment operations, ensuring adherence to financial, regulatory, AML/CFT, KYC and data‑protection requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and periodically review AML/CFT and KYC policies, procedures, controls and frameworks.
• Oversee customer due‑diligence (CDD) and enhanced due‑diligence (EDD) processes, risk‑rating methodologies and periodic reviews.
• Manage sanctions and PEP screening, including alert triage, investigation, documentation and escalation.
• Support transaction‑monitoring systems, review alerts and investigate potentially suspicious activity.
• Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and other regulatory filings.
• Serve as the primary liaison for regulators, responding to information requests and supporting examinations.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely compliance reporting.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of financial services compliance, AML/CFT and KYC regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment and ability to translate regulatory requirements into business processes.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams such as Legal, Finance, Operations, Product and Risk.
