Driver – Assosa, Ethiopia

About the role

We are looking for a reliable driver to transport Norwegian Refugee Council staff, visitors, documents and goods safely to approved destinations in and around Assosa, Ethiopia. The role involves ensuring vehicle safety, compliance with traffic regulations and supporting logistical operations during trainings and workshops.

Key responsibilities

• Transport NRC personnel, visitors, equipment and materials to designated locations after official approval.
• Maintain vehicle safety and security, conduct pre‑ and post‑trip checks (fuel, oil, tire pressure, battery water, etc.).
• Report accidents, breakdowns or maintenance needs immediately to the Logistics Team Leader.
• Keep an accurate logbook of all journeys and ensure the vehicle has required documents and equipment.
• Arrange repairs and servicing in coordination with the line manager and logistics representative.
• Provide logistical support during trainings, workshops and other field activities.
• Ensure passengers wear safety belts, avoid mobile phone use while driving and adhere to NRC driver conduct rules.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle class.
• Good knowledge of local traffic regulations and ability to follow NRC vehicle policies.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and be well rested for long journeys.
• Prescription‑glasses wearers must use them while driving.

Required skills

• Vehicle maintenance and basic security checks.
• Logbook management and record‑keeping.
• Basic knowledge of safety belt usage and road safety practices.
