Driver – UNFPA Konso (GS-2)

About the role

The Driver will provide reliable and safe transportation for UNFPA staff, senior officials and visitors in Konso, Ethiopia. The role requires strict adherence to protocol, discretion and a strong sense of responsibility while supporting the Regional Programme Analyst.

Key responsibilities

• Drive office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA personnel, officials and visitors.
• Deliver and collect mail and documentation.
• Meet official passengers at the airport and assist with visa and customs formalities when required.
• Monitor traffic, road conditions and security updates to ensure timely arrivals.
• Manage vehicle maintenance, conduct minor repairs, arrange major servicing, keep daily logs and assist in maintenance planning.
• Track insurance and tax formalities for the vehicle fleet.
• Act as a translator in the local language for official passengers when needed.
• Guide and coach junior drivers and support CO staff with general administrative duties.

Required profile

• Completed secondary level education.
• Demonstrated experience providing safe driving services for senior officials or similar high‑profile clients.
• Strong knowledge of protocol, security issues and discretion.
• Ability to work with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.
