Financial Analyst – Venture Capital

About the role

Renew Capital, a pan-Africa investment firm, is seeking a Financial Analyst to support its venture capital and private-equity activities from its Ethiopia office. The analyst will work closely with portfolio CFOs and senior investment team members to evaluate and model investment opportunities across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain detailed financial models for pipeline companies and existing portfolio investments.
• Analyze historical financial performance, identify trends, calculate ratios and provide actionable recommendations.
• Assess capital expenditures, depreciation schedules and support budgeting and cash-flow forecasting.
• Conduct primary and secondary market research and due-diligence on prospective investments.
• Present findings to the investment committee, leadership and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with portfolio companies on budgets, rolling cash-flow, controls and overall financial management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting or a related field (MBA or MF is a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity or a comparable investment environment.
• Strong communication skills in English and the ability to convey complex financial concepts.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency, including charts, macros and complex formulas.
• Expert-level financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
