Grading Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Grading Supervisor to lead leaf grading operations, ensuring quality, accuracy and efficiency across the production cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and control all leaf grading and related activities, including work schedule preparation for each grading season.
• Ensure timely availability of manpower, materials, equipment and other resources required for grading operations.
• Oversee cured leaf grading, conditioning, moisture control, packing, labeling and transfer to warehouse while complying with quality standards.
• Monitor grading‑related costs, labor utilization, daily manpower assignments and wage payments.
• Implement measures to minimise operational losses and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Curing and Field Agronomy teams to ensure timely off‑loading of cured leaf and optimal use of curing capacity.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, hygiene, sanitation, moisture control, NTRM‑free processing and product quality requirements.
• Lead, coach and supervise grading teams, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Support trials and improvement projects related to grading operations and report outcomes.
• Perform other duties and projects assigned by the line manager.

Required profile

• BSc degree or College Diploma in Plant Science, Agronomy, Horticulture or Dry Land Farming.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience for BSc holders (or 6 years for Diploma holders) with direct experience in tobacco leaf curing.
• Proven supervisory experience in grading, quality control or related operational environment.
• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
