HR Lead – Build HR Function for New Automotive Business

About the role

The HR Lead will establish and manage the Human Resources function for a multinational automotive group entering Ethiopia. This role will shape people infrastructure, drive recruitment and support workforce development as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and lead the HR function for the company's initial operations in Ethiopia.
• Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, systems and processes.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning for a growing team.
• Manage employee lifecycle processes including contracts, records, leave, attendance and payroll coordination.
• Support performance management, employee engagement, learning and development initiatives.
• Provide guidance on employee relations and workplace matters.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian labour laws and employment requirements.
• Advise management on people‑related insights and help build a high‑performing, employee‑focused culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multinational, automotive, retail, service or fast‑growing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian labour and employment practices.
• Proven ability to independently manage a broad range of HR activities.
• Experience establishing HR processes and systems in a new or growing organization is highly desirable.
• High integrity, confidentiality, initiative and ability to work independently.
