Information Technology Officer (School IT Support)

About the role

The school network needs a reliable, hands‑on professional to keep its technology running smoothly. As the Information Technology Officer, you will provide day‑to‑day IT support across Assosa and Homosha campuses, ensuring that e‑learning labs, printers, and other equipment are always available for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot printers, copiers, and computer hardware.
• Provide hardware, software, and basic networking support to teachers, administrators, and students.
• Ensure e‑learning computer labs operate with minimal downtime.
• Retrieve data, generate periodic summaries, and support reporting for the education team.
• Manage IT assets, vendor relationships, updates, patches, backups, and documentation.
• Install and configure workstations, peripherals, and business applications.
• Coordinate with external vendors when specialised assistance is required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of IT processes and infrastructure.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Linux and UNIX system administration, including command‑line utilities, shell scripting, and file‑system management.
• Willingness to provide on‑site support at multiple school locations.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of practical IT support experience, especially with printers, copiers, computer maintenance, and networking.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues.
• Experience in a school or institutional environment is a plus.
• Readiness to teach basic computer skills and support STEAM activities.
