International Expert Trainer – English Language Project (Consultancy)

About the role

The British Council is seeking experienced teacher and teacher‑educator trainers to join the Making the Transition to English (MTE) project in Ethiopia as Independent Expert Trainers. This consultancy will support the development of national expert trainers and transformation coaches who will improve English language instruction for Grades 7‑8.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop professional development programmes and training materials for English Language Teaching (ELT).
• Deliver scheduled in‑country training sessions in Ethiopia and provide remote technical support.
• Contribute to the creation of sustainable teacher professional development systems.
• Collaborate with the British Council team to ensure outputs meet project objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a teacher or teacher‑educator trainer, preferably in ELT contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on consultancy assignments.
• Willingness to travel to Ethiopia for on‑site delivery periods.
• Familiarity with English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) transitions is an advantage.
