Junior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with Ethiopian tax regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.
• Process tax declarations and statutory filings using the ERCA/eTax System.
• Handle VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, pension and other statutory obligations.
• Prepare and process payroll in coordination with HR.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
• Greet clients and visitors, answer phone calls, manage email inquiries, and schedule internal meetings.
• Provide basic HR administrative support and assist with procurement tasks for tech projects.
• Maintain official company documentation, letters, client files, and contract archives.
• Oversee daily office operations, ensure a clean workspace, and manage office supplies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations.
• Hands‑on experience with the ERCA/eTax System.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Peachtree or Odoo.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Apps.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
