Junior Accountant

About the role

The Junior Accountant will join Aklil Trading PLC’s finance team in Addis Ababa, working in a hybrid setting. This full‑time role supports daily accounting activities across the company’s trading, energy and export divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions and maintain general ledger entries.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice handling.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Generate standard financial reports for management review.
• Maintain organized financial records and support audit and compliance checks.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate documentation for trading, energy and export operations.
• Collaborate with the finance team to improve accounting processes and ensure policy adherence.

Required profile

• Foundational accounting knowledge (general ledger posting, journal entries, basic financial statements).
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation tasks.
• Proficiency in using accounting/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry and good organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication in a multicultural environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certification in progress is a plus.
• Familiarity with Ethiopian tax, regulatory and financial reporting requirements is beneficial.
• Interest in trading, energy solutions and export operations with a willingness to grow.
