Livestock Market Promotion Officer

About the role

CARE Ethiopia is seeking a full‑time Livestock Market Promotion Officer to strengthen livestock value chains and improve market access for smallholder farmers and pastoralists. Based in Addis Ababa, you will work on‑site to design, implement and monitor market‑oriented activities that support inclusive rural development.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyse and report on livestock market data and value‑chain dynamics.
• Facilitate linkages between producers, buyers, service providers and other stakeholders.
• Develop and promote livestock marketing initiatives and value‑chain interventions.
• Coordinate with government agencies, cooperatives, private‑sector actors and community groups.
• Organise trainings, workshops and awareness campaigns on market opportunities.
• Prepare regular progress reports and ensure activities align with CARE Ethiopia’s strategies and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with farmers, pastoralists and partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Analytical ability to interpret market data and performance indicators.
• Project‑management experience to plan activities, manage timelines and support M&E processes.
• Marketing knowledge to design and promote livestock market initiatives.
• Relevant degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Rural Development or a related field.
• Experience with livestock value chains, farmer organisations or market‑systems development in Ethiopia or similar contexts.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and comfort with data entry and simple analysis tools.
• Willingness to travel to field sites and work in a multicultural, gender‑sensitive environment.
