Loan Collection Officer

About the role

The Loan Collection Officer will join Amanitore Search’s client in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to manage a portfolio of overdue loan accounts. Working on‑site, you will engage directly with borrowers to negotiate repayment plans and ensure timely recovery of outstanding balances while adhering to company policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage a portfolio of delinquent loan accounts.
• Contact borrowers by phone and in person to discuss repayment options and negotiate settlements.
• Analyse borrower information and repayment capacity to propose appropriate collection strategies.
• Document all interactions, update collection management systems, and prepare regular status reports.
• Escalate complex or disputed cases to senior management or relevant departments.
• Collaborate with finance, customer service, and risk teams to improve overall portfolio quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience in debt collection, loan recovery, or related banking/micro‑finance roles.
• Strong analytical ability to assess borrower risk and repayment capacity.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills for handling sensitive conversations.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work on‑site in Addis Ababa and manage multiple cases efficiently.
• Relevant degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and collection management systems.
