Protection Assistant – GBV Caseworker (Re‑advertisement)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Assistant to provide gender‑based violence (GBV) case management services in Adigrat (Glomekeda & Erob). Working under the GBV Coordinator, you will support survivors and contribute to the protection team’s response in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver confidential GBV case management services in line with DRC standards and SOPs.
• Conduct referrals to relevant services, follow up on action plans, and ensure appropriate case closure.
• Provide individual counselling and facilitate safe‑space case management sessions.
• Record and store GBV data in the GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS) following inter‑agency protocols.
• Lead emotional‑support group sessions for women and girls at risk or survivors of GBV.
• Support basic GBV training for community structures and promote safe identification and referral of cases.
• Identify gaps in GBV response services and communicate them to the GBV Officer and Coordinator.
• Maintain regular monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance of GBV‑related projects.
• Engage with community representatives to assess needs and improve programming.
• Uphold strict confidentiality and protect survivor identities in all activities.
• Maintain and regularly update the case management database and related trackers.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the supervision of the GBV Coordinator and collaborate with the protection team.
• Experience or familiarity with GBV case management, counselling, and community‑based protection.
• Strong commitment to survivor‑centred approaches and confidentiality.
• Capacity to conduct referrals, data entry, and reporting accurately.
• Willingness to engage with local communities and support training initiatives.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the GBVIMS (Gender‑Based Violence Information Management System).
• Experience using the DRC Case Management IM system for client data entry.
