Senior Accountant

About the role

Zena Business PLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Addis Ababa. The role is full‑time and on‑site, focusing on the financial accounting needs of a growing pharmaceutical and medical import business.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledgers, ensuring accurate month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Prepare financial statements, cash‑flow reports, and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and monitor daily cash positions.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, prepare tax filings, and coordinate external audit processes.
• Provide financial analysis for import cost control and support management decision‑making.
• Continuously improve internal financial controls and reporting procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certification preferred.
• Strong experience in financial accounting, month‑end/year‑end closing, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to handle budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Experience in a trading, import or pharmaceutical environment is highly beneficial.
• Excellent analytical mindset, attention to detail, and collaborative work style.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English; local language skills are a plus.
