Senior Backend Engineer - Node.js & AWS (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Node.js and AWS to join a high‑traffic, cloud‑native platform on a contract basis. The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver low‑latency, scalable services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy Node.js microservices using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS and CloudFormation.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability and reliability.
• Develop secure RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Lead architectural decisions for cloud infrastructure, including containerization with Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes or ECS.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code with Terraform.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional Node.js backend development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with core AWS services.
• Proven ability to work independently in a distributed remote team.
• Solid understanding of database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
