Senior Child Health Advisor – Ethiopia

About the role

The Ministry of Health in Ethiopia seeks a Senior Child Health Advisor to provide high‑level technical, analytical, and coordination support for the national newborn, child health, development, and immunization strategy. The role embeds technical expertise within the Ministry to strengthen program implementation and align with U.S. Department of State assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Support annual planning and execution of the child health program, including immunization and polio components.
• Participate in planning harmonization exercises with MoH teams, regional health bureaus, implementing partners, UN agencies, and technical working groups.
• Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate national newborn, child health, development, and immunization interventions.
• Facilitate life‑saving humanitarian assistance in line with the latest Presidential Executive Order directives.
• Engage with multiple stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery and alignment with U.S. foreign assistance objectives.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in public health, specifically newborn and child health programs.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries, regional health bureaus, and international partners.
• Familiarity with Department of State foreign assistance programming and MNCH portfolio implementation.
• Strong analytical and coordination skills to support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
