Senior Executive – Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)

About the role

People First Consult is recruiting a Senior Executive – Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) for a leading paint and chemical manufacturing company in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role is responsible for implementing, maintaining and monitoring the organisation’s EHS programmes to ensure full compliance with local laws and corporate standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure strict compliance with Ethiopian occupational health, safety and environmental legislation, manage permits, licences and statutory certifications, and implement the facility’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections, hazard assessments and field audits; lead accident, incident and near‑miss investigations using root‑cause analysis; design and deliver safety induction and ongoing training programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of progressive EHS management experience in chemical, manufacturing or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Professional EHS certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA or equivalent are highly advantageous.
