Space Applications Expert – Earth Observation & Copernicus

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified Space Applications Expert to support the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme. The expert will lead the development, deployment and uptake of Earth Observation services, leveraging Copernicus data to address climate, environmental and development challenges across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver EO services and applications in sectors such as early‑warning, climate monitoring, agriculture, water management and biodiversity.
• Coordinate with African institutions and stakeholders to promote user uptake of Copernicus‑based solutions.
• Provide technical guidance for integrating EO data into policy dialogue, innovation projects and private‑sector initiatives.
• Contribute to proposal preparation and knowledge‑exchange activities within the AESPP Boost project.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in geomatics, remote sensing, environmental science, meteorology, engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Earth Observation, geospatial services or climate/environmental applications.
• At least 4 years of experience designing EO services using Copernicus data and products.
• Demonstrated experience working with African institutions or on African‑focused projects (asset).
• Fluent English; working knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.
