University Professor – Mechanical & Material Engineering

About the role

Hawassa University seeks a full‑time University Professor in Mechanical and Material Engineering to join its faculty in Addis Ababa. The position involves teaching, research, and service within a vibrant, multidisciplinary academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical and material engineering.
• Develop course materials, laboratory exercises, and assessment tools.
• Supervise student projects, theses, and laboratory work.
• Conduct independent and collaborative research, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, and pursue external funding.
• Participate in curriculum review, departmental committees, and community outreach activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven university‑level teaching experience with effective classroom and lab management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to departmental service.
• Evidence of ongoing scholarly activity and membership in relevant engineering societies.
