Accountability Officer

About the role

The Accountability Officer will lead the implementation of community feedback and response mechanisms to ensure transparent, inclusive and community‑centered project delivery. Working closely with project teams, government stakeholders and partners, the officer will ensure that community voices shape project decisions and improve overall quality and resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain community feedback and complaint channels, recording all inputs through the Digital Accountability Platform (DAP) tools.
• Provide technical guidance on accountability frameworks, ensuring integration with CHS, safeguarding and safe‑inclusive programming.
• Monitor and supervise the functionality, inclusiveness and safety of feedback mechanisms during targeting, distributions and service delivery.
• Analyse community feedback, compile reports and share findings with project managers and MEAL teams for program improvement.
• Identify and refer sensitive complaints (e.g., safeguarding, PSEA, fraud, child protection) through established referral pathways.

Required profile

• University degree in sociology, social work, social science, monitoring & data management or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of field‑based experience with accountability and MEAL activities in emergency contexts, including experience establishing functional accountability systems for large beneficiary groups.
• Proven experience leading surveys from design to reporting and familiarity with donor regulations (USG, World Vision, Sphere standards).

Required skills

• Proficiency with mobile data collection tools such as Kobo, CommCare and ODK Collect.
• Ability to train community structures and staff on accountability principles and complaint handling.
