AI/ML Engineer

About the role

The AI/ML Engineer will join the technical team of the Data.FI Ethiopia project to embed machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities into a modern data warehouse platform. The role focuses on turning realistic AI/ML use cases into prototype models and AI‑enabled workflows that support predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and decision‑support for HIV and health data programs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop AI/ML components that integrate seamlessly with the data warehouse environment.
• Collaborate with data warehouse and ETL teams to understand data sources, warehouse structures, and pipeline requirements.
• Identify and prioritize realistic AI/ML use cases aligned with project goals.
• Prepare and curate data for modelling, ensuring quality and relevance.
• Build, test, and demonstrate prototype models or AI‑enabled workflows.
• Implement MLOps practices to operationalize models in a cloud environment.

Required profile

• Strong experience in machine learning engineering and MLOps.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based ML systems.
• Practical understanding of data warehouses and data pipelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional technical teams.
