About the role
The Associate Programme Management Officer (HDP Cross-Pillar Nexus Specialist) provides dedicated coordination, technical expertise, and field‑level leadership to the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Ethiopia. The role advances the Humanitarian‑Development‑Peace (HDP) Cross‑Pillar Nexus and resilience approaches, working closely with the Government of Ethiopia and UN partners.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the coordination of the UN Country Team’s HDP Cross‑Pillar Nexus approach, ensuring alignment with national and regional development priorities.
- Supervise a team of regional HDP Cross‑Pillar Nexus specialists (UNVs) and monitor the quality of cross‑pillar work.
- Provide substantive technical guidance on Cross‑Pillar Nexus programming and support evidence‑based planning.
- Facilitate policy dialogue and coordination among humanitarian, development, and peace actors, including OCHA, ministries, regional authorities, and civil society.
- Promote coherence between national and regional implementation and contribute to reducing vulnerabilities in fragile, crisis‑prone contexts.
- Support knowledge generation, capacity strengthening, and learning to enhance operationalization of Nexus approaches.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in development studies, humanitarian affairs, peacebuilding, public policy, or a related field.
- Significant experience in HDP Nexus coordination, UN system operations, or multi‑stakeholder development programmes.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex stakeholder environments, and produce high‑quality technical outputs.
- Strong analytical and evidence‑based planning skills, with a track record of supporting policy dialogue.
