Business Development Manager – Steel Sector (Ethiopia)

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth across Ethiopia’s steel market, focusing on hot‑rolled coil (HRC), cold‑rolled coil (CRC), galvanized (GI) and pre‑painted (PPGI) products. The role will combine market analysis, client acquisition and long‑term account management to expand our presence in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing and post‑sale account management.
• Analyse Ethiopian market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and regional demand to craft localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics and Finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with existing clients while aggressively pursuing new business to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Ethiopian trade events and industry associations to raise brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent English for business communication.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in international steel trading with a proven record in import/export operations.
• Strong negotiation abilities, commercial acumen and an established network within the Ethiopian steel industry.
• Self‑starter attitude, resilience and willingness to travel frequently across the region.
