Communications Assistant

About the role

The Communications Assistant will support the Publications & Conference Management Section of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa. Reporting to the Head of the Conference Planning & Coordination Services Unit and the Associate Public Information Officer, the role focuses on implementing communication strategies, creating content, and monitoring media performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of communication strategies that raise awareness, drive engagement and demonstrate impact.
• Support monitoring, analysis and reporting of traditional, digital and social media, including media mapping.
• Help draft narratives, messaging and compelling content for web stories, videos, photography, reports and infographics.
• Contribute to the development and execution of communications campaigns and strategic partnerships.
• Collect and analyse data, prepare presentations and visualisations, and update web pages or brochures.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations or related fields.
• High school diploma required; studies in history, political science, communication, journalism, marketing or related areas are advantageous.
• Professionalism, strong communication, client orientation and ability to work under pressure.
