Communications Assistant – Visitor Centre (2 positions)

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa is seeking two Communications Assistants to support the Africa Hall Visitors Centre. Working under the Head of the Conference Planning & Coordination Services Unit and the Associate Public Information Officer, you will be the friendly face of the centre, helping visitors and contributing to communication projects.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and receive visitors, acting as an ambassador for the Africa Hall Visitors Centre.
• Conduct in‑person and virtual tours, providing accurate information to tourists, students, VIPs and staff.
• Answer visitor questions in an energetic, personable manner and relay up‑to‑date information.
• Assist with marketing and communications projects, preparing and updating informational materials and supporting promotional activities.
• Monitor visitor safety and report any concerns.
• Collect, analyse and present data for reporting, knowledge management and decision‑making.
• Support visualisation tasks and update web pages or brochures with current information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Professional knowledge of strategic communications principles and practices.
• Understanding of risks to information integrity such as misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and threats in fragile or crisis environments.
• Strong presentation, communication and storytelling abilities.
• Friendly, energetic and approachable demeanor.
