Communications Specialist – UHC Life Course Cluster Support

About the role

The Communications Specialist will support the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Life Course Cluster at the WHO Ethiopia Country Office. Based in Addis Ababa, the role provides strategic communications to raise the visibility of WHO’s UHC initiatives, translate technical evidence into accessible information, and strengthen partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of communication plans for UHC Life Course Cluster priorities.
• Translate technical and policy information into clear, accessible communication products for diverse audiences.
• Draft and edit policy briefs, reports, success stories, talking points and feature articles.
• Document programme activities, develop knowledge products and maintain organized communication archives.
• Coordinate production of multimedia materials (videos, photographs, digital assets) and manage relationships with audiovisual consultants.
• Create engaging content for WHO digital platforms and social‑media channels to enhance online visibility.
• Provide communication support for events, advocacy activities and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, journalism, public health or a related field.
• Proven experience in strategic communications within international or public‑health settings.
• Ability to synthesize complex technical information into accessible formats.
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
• Experience in knowledge management and documentation.
