Consultant – Coordinator for High‑level Working Group

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is seeking a qualified consultant to serve as the Coordinator of its High‑level Working Group on the Global Financial Architecture. The role provides both substantive and coordination support to a platform that brings together African finance ministers, development banks, and multilateral institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse global economic developments and their impact on African economies, delivering timely updates and strategic insights.
• Track policy updates related to reforms of the global financial architecture and assess implications for African countries.
• Draft reform proposals, policy briefs, technical notes and presentation materials for high‑level engagements.
• Provide technical input to ECA’s participation in global and regional economic governance forums such as the G20, G24, IMF and World Bank.
• Support the preparation of documents, knowledge products and other materials for the Working Group.
• Coordinate the planning and logistics of Working Group meetings, both virtual and in‑person.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, international finance, public policy or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience working with multilateral institutions, development banks or high‑level policy fora.
• Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with global financial architecture reforms.
• Excellent written communication skills for drafting policy documents and briefs.
