Country Director – Ethiopia

About the role

The Country Director will lead Concern Worldwide’s programme and operations in Ethiopia, providing strategic direction and ensuring compliance with organisational policies. This senior position requires overseeing all aspects of the country programme, including security, finance, and staff management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a coherent country programme aligned with Concern’s global strategy, addressing emergency needs of conflict‑affected populations.
• Provide overall leadership for programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring targets and donor requirements are met.
• Manage security and safety of personnel and assets, including the Country Security Management Plan and coordination with external bodies.
• Lead financial management, budget preparation, monitoring, and timely reporting to donors and headquarters.
• Represent Concern with government, donors, and humanitarian partners, maintaining compliance with statutory obligations and promoting humanitarian principles.

Required profile

• Extensive senior management experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in conflict or disaster contexts.
• Proven ability to lead diverse national and international teams, ensuring transparency, accountability, and a positive working environment.
• Strong experience in donor relations, fundraising, and managing large‑scale budgets.
• Willingness to travel at least 20% to programme sites across Ethiopia.
