DevOps & Performance Engineer (Azure) – Mid Level

About the role

We are looking for a mid‑level DevOps & Performance Engineer to own the Azure‑based environments, delivery pipelines, reliability and performance of ULS, a multi‑tenant SaaS platform for enterprise shipping and logistics. You will be trusted with production systems early on and expected to improve how they are operated.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Development, Staging and Production environments on Azure (App Service, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Blob Storage, Front Door/WAF, VNet, private endpoints, Application Insights).
• Design, maintain and run CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for .NET Core back‑end and React front‑end, including database migrations.
• Own release promotion from Dev to Staging to Production with tested rollback procedures.
• Provision new customer tenants and dedicated environments as required.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, on‑call rotation and runbooks for routine operations (deploy, rollback, secret rotation, environment refresh).
• Conduct load and soak testing of core shipment‑processing paths and analyse SQL query performance.
• Plan capacity, right‑size Azure resources and maintain cost visibility.
• Enforce security best practices: least‑privilege access, managed identities, secret rotation and network isolation.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of hands‑on experience running production workloads on Microsoft Azure.
• Direct responsibility for production incidents and on‑call duties.
• Ability to write clear runbooks and incident notes in English.
• Willingness to overlap with US Eastern working hours for deployments and stand‑ups.
• Motivation to become the primary owner of production operations within the first 90 days.

Required skills

• Azure services: App Service, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Front Door/WAF, VNet, Private Endpoints, Application Insights.
• Azure DevOps (YAML pipelines) and infrastructure‑as‑code (Bicep or Terraform).
• SQL Server performance tuning: execution plans, indexing, query optimisation.
• Scripting with PowerShell or Bash; familiarity with C#/.NET Core deployment concepts.
• Load‑testing tools (k6, JMeter, Azure Load Testing).
• Container technologies: Docker, Azure Container Apps or AKS.
• Message queues: Azure Service Bus or RabbitMQ.
• Security hygiene: least‑privilege, managed identities, secret rotation.
