Education Manager – Play Matters Project

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an Education Manager to oversee the delivery of the Play Matters (PM3.0) core package in schools across the Harar and Jigjiga areas. The role focuses on ensuring that project targets are met, supporting partners, and promoting inclusive, equitable access to education for all learners.

Key responsibilities

• Support the country office team in developing and implementing strategic education initiatives in line with IRC’s mission.
• Represent IRC education programs in inter‑agency coordination meetings at regional, zonal and woreda levels.
• Identify critical education needs of crisis‑affected communities and contribute to rapid assessments, concept notes and proposal development.
• Capture and disseminate lessons learned from partner‑implemented education projects.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, mentoring and technical guidance to partners delivering the PM3.0 core package.
• Liaise with government officials and system actors to ensure effective program planning and implementation.
• Assist partners in preparing work plans, procurement plans and spending plans.
• Undertake additional tasks as requested by the manager.

Required profile

• Experience managing education programs in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of inclusive education for diverse learners, including persons with special needs.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with partners, government officials and inter‑agency groups.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
