Education Officer

About the role

The Education Officer will be based in Dekasuftu, Somali Region, and will lead the implementation of education activities for refugees, IDPs, and host communities. The role supports day‑to‑day delivery of the education workstreams, ensuring compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate education activities for refugee/IDP sites and host communities according to programme strategy, budgets and plans.
• Engage community leaders, inform beneficiaries, and establish community mobilisation mechanisms.
• Work with Centre Management Committees, youth associations and local authorities to enrol youth in vocational and skills‑training programmes.
• Oversee procurement, development and distribution of learning materials and equipment.
• Prepare periodic progress reports, maintain learner and trainer databases, and ensure accurate documentation.
• Introduce new technologies and approaches to improve programme quality and efficiency.
• Supervise and monitor programme implementation in line with global and country strategic plans.

Required profile

• Experience coordinating education programmes for refugee and IDP populations.
• Familiarity with NRC policies, donor compliance and humanitarian reporting standards.
• Proven ability to work with community structures, youth groups and local authorities.
• Strong organisational skills to translate annual plans into weekly and monthly implementation schedules.
