Emergency Room Nurse

About the role

Washington Healthcare Plc (WHC) is seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Nurse to join its 24/7 emergency department in Addis Ababa. The successful candidate will provide immediate, high‑quality nursing care to patients presenting with acute medical emergencies, supporting the hospital’s mission of affordable, world‑class healthcare.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver prompt and efficient emergency nursing care to all patients.
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on urgency and clinical condition.
• Assist physicians during emergency procedures and interventions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely.
• Monitor vital signs, maintain accurate patient records, and document care activities.
• Ensure readiness and proper functioning of emergency equipment.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary staff.

Required profile

• BSc Degree in Nursing.
• Valid professional nursing license.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an emergency department or critical care setting.
• Knowledge of emergency triage protocols and patient prioritization.
• Understanding of Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS/ACLS) principles.
• Familiarity with emergency medications, infection prevention, and equipment use.
• Proficiency in medical documentation standards and patient record systems.

Required skills
