Ethiopia Country Lead

About the role

The Ethiopia Country Lead will drive implementation of Ubongo’s strategic programs and products across Ethiopia. This senior role focuses on market entry, partnership development, brand building and cross‑functional collaboration to expand reach and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Implement country‑specific and regional expansion strategies aligned with Ubongo’s 5‑year growth plan, designing market entry plans across testing, entry, growth and expansion phases.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with distribution partners, represent Ubongo at industry events, and coordinate on‑ground efforts with internal teams.
• Provide market insights for brand development, create marketing campaigns, and identify local influencers and media channels to boost brand awareness.
• Collaborate with content, education, research, digital and monitoring teams to align expansion activities with product goals and impact metrics.
• Support fundraising and reporting by contributing regional insights and partner success stories.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in education, media, project management, marketing or business development.
• Deep understanding of Ethiopia’s media and education ecosystem, strong communication skills in English and local language(s), and willingness to travel extensively in remote areas.
• Self‑starter with initiative, problem‑solving ability, and capacity to work independently and adapt to evolving priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Experience using collaboration tools such as Slack and Asana.
