Finance Assistant – Humanitarian Operations

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support DRC’s operations in Humera, Ethiopia, ensuring accurate financial record‑keeping, cash management and compliance with donor and local regulations. Working under the Support Service Team Leader, the role contributes to smooth finance processes for both DRC and its partners.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping, record transactions in DRC Dynamics and ensure correct project and budget coding.
• Prepare and process payment, receipt and journal vouchers with complete, approved documentation.
• Manage petty cash, conduct cash counts, process bank transfers and maintain cash‑flow records.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with DRC financial policies, donor regulations and maintain audit‑ready documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–2 years of finance or accounting experience, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.
• BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or a related field.
• Strong organizational, analytical and numerical skills with the ability to work independently and in a multicultural team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
