Finance & HR Officer

About the role

The Finance & HR Officer will provide essential financial and human‑resource support for DRC’s operations in Jigjiga, Ethiopia, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and donor requirements while supporting the AfD‑funded H.E.R project.

Key responsibilities

• Process timely payments for vendors, staff and casual workers, maintain cash books, perform bank reconciliations and oversee cash counts.
• Record all transactions in DYN (DRC’s ERP system), prepare monthly financial reports and assist with internal and external audits.
• Manage staff recruitment, onboarding, contract documentation, leave tracking and payroll inputs.
• Ensure staff are registered with the government pension scheme, maintain HR files and respond to HR correspondence with the Country Office.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of combined finance and HR experience, preferably in an NGO environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field.
• Fluent written and spoken English; knowledge of Somali or Afan Oromo is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems (experience with DYN preferred).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall Microsoft Office competence.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations and Ethiopian labour law.
