Food Security and Livelihood Officer

About the role

The Food Security and Livelihood Officer will lead the day‑to‑day implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Save the Children’s food security and livelihoods (FSL) project in the assigned woredas. The role ensures that beneficiary selection, cash distribution and community engagement are carried out according to programme standards and child‑rights principles.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, follow up, monitor and evaluate all FSL activities in the field.
• Coordinate with local government, line ministries, community facilitators and implementing partners to plan and execute project activities.
• Ensure correct beneficiary selection procedures and criteria are applied.
• Collect, document and respond to beneficiary feedback, escalating issues when necessary.
• Support community facilitators in daily planning and communicate distribution dates and verification conditions to beneficiaries.
• Train data collectors on PDM and price‑monitoring tools and verify data quality in collaboration with MEAL.
• Prepare regular progress reports, monthly and quarterly monitoring plans, and contribute to annual project reports.
• Incorporate child‑rights programming into all project components and sensitize communities on project modalities.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in implementing food security and livelihood programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
• Familiarity with beneficiary selection, cash distribution and community mobilisation processes.
• Ability to work closely with local authorities, partners and field teams.
• Strong reporting skills and experience preparing monitoring and evaluation documentation.
• Understanding of child‑rights frameworks and how they apply to project design.
