Graphic Design Assistant

About the role

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is seeking a Graphic Design Assistant to support its Administration and Conference Management Division in Addis Ababa. Working under the general supervision of the Conference Services Officer and directly with the Publishing Officer, you will contribute to the creation of visual materials for UN‑sponsored conferences, events and publications.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in client meetings to define design objectives, media formats, technical specifications, budgets and timelines.
• Independently develop design concepts for high‑priority UN activities, including conferences, observances and campaigns.
• Create infographics and data visualisations that translate complex information into clear, engaging graphics.
• Produce publication‑ready artwork and prepare print‑ready and accessible digital files for reports, books and conference documents, adhering to ECA branding, typography and accessibility standards.
• Prepare electronic files for final review, review colour and print proofs, and coordinate with copy‑editors, production staff and other stakeholders to keep projects on schedule.
• Assist in data collection and analysis for the preparation of data presentations and reports.

Required profile

• Located in Addis Ababa and reporting to the Conference Services Officer (Chief of the Publications Unit) and the Publishing Officer.
• Full‑time availability within the Administration and Conference Management Division.
