Health & Nutrition Coordinator

About the role

The Health & Nutrition Coordinator will provide technical leadership, coordination and oversight for health and nutrition interventions under the ECHO‑funded Area‑Based Approach (ABA) programme in Wag Himra. The role ensures integrated, evidence‑based service delivery and strengthens referral systems for vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of health and nutrition activities in target woredas.
• Provide technical support, capacity building and quality assurance to implementing partners and frontline staff, including community‑based nutrition and CMAM services.
• Strengthen coordination among consortium partners, government health structures, humanitarian actors and community stakeholders to ensure integrated service delivery and effective referral pathways.
• Oversee emergency preparedness, disease surveillance and outbreak response, and support adaptive management of the programme.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating health and nutrition programmes in humanitarian settings.
• Strong knowledge of community‑based nutrition, CMAM, primary health‑care delivery and health system strengthening.
• Experience working with government health authorities, NGOs and multi‑sectoral coordination mechanisms.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in health and nutrition interventions, including MUAC screening, IYCF, IMNCI, BEmONC and CMAM protocols.
• Ability to develop work plans, monitor indicators and produce quality reports in line with donor requirements.
