International Consultant – Support AUC and AGN on Climate Mobility

About the role

The International Consultant will support the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) in integrating human mobility considerations into UNFCCC climate negotiations. The role involves developing gender‑sensitive needs assessments, guiding AI‑enabled capacity‑building tools, and strengthening the capacities of negotiators, youth, and government officials across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare an inception report outlining methodology, workplan, stakeholders, and engagement approach (due December 2026).
• Conduct a gender‑sensitive needs assessment of AGN climate negotiators to identify AI, data, and climate‑mobility capacity gaps.
• Collaborate with IOM and the app vendor to translate assessment findings into an AI‑enabled capacity‑building application and develop AI guidelines.
• Support AGN, youth, and government stakeholders in using the application to improve understanding of climate‑induced human mobility.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Migration Studies, Policy, Law, Development, African Studies, International Relations, or related fields.
• Experience in climate change, disaster risk reduction, migration policy, and African Union or regional policy processes.
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of French is desirable.
